You know that as a teacher you are a catalyst for change.
The educational playing field is shifting as society becomes increasingly aware of the harm that can be caused by perpetuating limiting attitudes, approaches and assumptions from the framework of education that we’ve inherited, as well as the impact of limited learning models that exclude trauma, emotions and the body.
We are being called to co-create a culture that is much more emotionally literate, embodied and holistic.
Teaching is not just about transmitting information, it’s about creating shifts in awareness, opening doors to new experiences, offering glimpses of previously unknown possibilities.
Learning is empowerment.
And to be able to do that for our students we need to be able to deeply understand ourselves and our biases as well as our students and the ways they respond due to their particular makeup and enculturation.
MY APPROACH
a combination of coaching and mentoring
I have been an educator for 20 years and have continued to receive training in social psychology, mental health, trauma, neuroeducation, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), bibliotherapy techniques (poetry therapy and narrative therapy), and mindfulness and embodiment techniques.
In my work with educators, I start with the premise that the educator who seeks mentorship already has invaluable experience to bring to the relationship mentor-mentee. My job is then:
During the sessions together, we will focus on any topic that you bring to the conversation. As a coach, I will ask questions to help you find your solutions. As a mentor, I will offer advice and share my experience when relevant.
If you are a language educator, coach, teacher, social educator, or other professional and feel you and your clients would benefit from this work, contact me to set up a consultation.
I work with educators, coaches, social workers, activists, art workers, mental health professionals and self-taught language learners who approach their work and study holistically. They know there is so much more to work and learn than what you get from it. It’s what you become through it. They know there’s so much potential but need guidance and support to access it. Whether that’s in their work, their relationship to learning, to themselves and others, or their self-expression, there is a deep desire for radical change, authenticity, connection and belonging.
